After a response, the checkout may offer a printed, emailed, or on-screen receipt. The available options vary. The terminal or connected point-of-sale system may also attach the result to an order and include it in merchant reporting. Merchants should use transaction identifiers and approved back-office reports when reconciling a sale instead of writing down sensitive payment information.
A terminal receipt and an authorization message are operational records, but each provider defines how its dashboard, batches, and reports are organized. Staff training should reflect the merchant's actual equipment and documented procedures.
